Title: CB/3 - Single Bevel
Long Description:

Single Head Knives to 8" (200mm) Diameter

Handles knives of all designs including multi edge barrel types

Accurate angle adjustment, positive or negative

Adjustable automatic feed and feed limit

Radial accuracy of the ground blade

Automatic deburr option

Precise grinding angle measurement

High stock removal and good finish

Designed for knives at the smaller and lighter end of the scale

The machine has two motors, one to drive the knife carrier shaft and the second to drive the grinding wheel. The assemblies are mounted on a heavy and substantial cast iron base through which the knife carrier shaft passes carried on self lubricating bearings with grit excluders. The machine will accommodate circular knives of all designs and sizes up to 200mm dia dependant on the rate of required stock removal. This machine is designed essentially for knives at the smaller end of the range. Adjustments are made using quick release clamp levers. Accurate facilities are provided for all grinding angles, positive or negative using clearly graduated scales, and a vertical pillar at the rear of the machine provides adjustment for height and knife diameter. The rotating blade is fed into the grinding wheel automatically at a constant and adjustable rate, controlled by a ratchet and cam arrangement. The ratchet also incorporates a detachable slide which can be preset so that after a pre-determined amount of stock has been removed, feed will be automatically arrested. After locating the blade, the whole operation, which covers grinding, feed and limit, and deburring if requested, is automatic and the inaccuracies and variations of hand grinding are avoided.

The machine has two motors, one to drive the knife carrier shaft and the second to drive the grinding wheel. The assemblies are mounted on a heavy and substantial cast iron base through which the knife carrier shaft passes carried on self lubricating bearings with grit excluders. The machine will accommodate circular knives of all designs and sizes up to 640mm dia. To achieve maximum stability and efficiency, the grinding wheel is mounted directly on the motor which is provided with fine screw cross adjustment. Adjustments are made using quick release clamp levers. Accurate facilities are provided for all grinding angles, positive or negative using clearly graduated scales, and a vertical pillar at the rear of the machine provides adjustment for height and knife diameter. The knife is held on the knife carrier shaft either by arbor or direct fit if smaller bores are involved.

There are 2 motors, one to drive the knife carrier shaft and the other to drive the grinding wheel. The assembly is built up of cast iron castings on a cast iron base through which the knife carrier shaft passes carried on self lubricated bearings with grit excluders. Standard capacity is for knives up to 20" (500mm) diameter although 25" (660mm) diameter is available if specified. To achieve maximum stability and efficiency the grinding wheel is mounted direct on an inverter-rated high speed motor which is laterally adjustable to fine limits on a dovetail slide. A clearly graduated scale is provided for both positive and negative grinding angles. Single or double bevel knives are located either by arbor or direct on the knife carrier shaft and the rotating blade is fed automatically into the wheel at an adjustable rate. A slide can be set so that after a pre-determined amount of stock has been removed the feed will be automatically arrested.
The other models in the CB/7 range include the CB/7A , CB/7K and CB/7E which have additional equipment on them where a larger volume of knives need to be ground such as... pneumatic tail stock for rapid loading of knives, automatic down feed of grinding heads with automatic spark out timer, knife comparators and more.

The basic model CB/7 can be used to grind circular knives up to 250mm in diameter but this can be changed to suit the needs of different customers.
